BackgroundThe Board for European Group for Organization Studies (EGOS) have decided that the annual EGOS Colloquium in 2006 will take place in Bergen, Norway. The colloquium will gather around 800-1000 organizational researchers in Bergen the summer of 2006. Most activites will take place at the concerthall named after the Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg; Grieghallen. Haldor Byrkjeflot (Rokkansenteret), Tor Hernes (Handelshøyskolen BI), Sissel Myklebust (TIK-centre, UiO) and Ragnhild Kvålshaugen (Sintef) represent the national comittee. Secretary for the colloquium is situated at Rokkansenteret, and a local comittee is established in collaboration with the University of Bergen. EGOS is the largest association for organizational researchers in Europe. EGOS is the origin of the periodical “Organization Studies” (Sage Publications), which has become a periodical with high international ranking. EGOS colloquiums have become an important meeting place for organizational researchers all over the world, and is credited with a great deal of attention from major publishers. It has grown over the last few years, and has become an institution in itself. The colloquium embraces a varied field of themes, with contributions over a variety of perspectives within social studies.
